Are you religious?

It was what seemed to be a simple question I am sure when my sociology teacher asked it today. However when I said the question to myself and I retracted my quick response of yes, I asked myself why did the word religious not sit well with me. In fact the more she talked about religion and being religious I was pushed away from it. My teacher quickly then asked why I changed my answer... So I said well I feel that religion is a worldly thing, it turns into groups using it as an excuse to make their own rules. I said I am a Christian and I have a strong faith in God and I have a personal relationship. But I am not religious, when I hear of religious people even as a Christian I think of someone who is judgmental. Is life of a Christ follower suppose to be that of a "religious" life. So am I religious NO, But I AM a CHRIST follower and I do have a personal relationship with Christ. I want to live in his image and I want to love as he loves. He loves us all and there is nothing that we could do that would make him love us less, although we sin he loves us, he loves us regardless of the choices that we have made, he loves us regardless of our preference of who we love, he loves us the same. Religion often tells us that is right and that is wrong and puts human in a position to judge and to condemn and that's not my job. My job is to love my neighbor, to love my enemies. My job is to live in his image, so I draw closer to God by reading his word, praying (that's me talking out loud and in my head all day), turning up my worship music and praising him. I focus on my relationship with Christ and set forth for me to live the life he has set forth for me to live.
